But which dress codes actually exist? When you are searching online for a wedding dress code, you will be flooded with various options. Black Tie, Festive, Bohemian Chic. Oh, so many choices! Of course you want a dress code that matches you and your partner. Read on to find out which dress codes you can expect at a wedding. The festive dress code is very diverse and is sometimes also called the dress code Party Chic. With this dress code you are free to choose your clothing, but usually there are a few guidelines. At the festive wedding dress code you can, for example, go for a cocktail dress, jumpsuit or maxi dress. With this outfit you wear neat pumps, heels or other chic shoes. The White Tie dress code fits well with a more chic wedding. At the same time, this is also a wedding dress code with many rules, so it is not often chosen. With this dress code you wear a long evening dress that reaches the floor. A stylish cleavage is a must. You choose the shoes, jewelry and bag with the color of the dress as the starting point. In addition, you wear gloves, over the elbows. Classic and striking make-up is an advantage with this dress code.

The Black Tie dress code is less formal than White Tie and is therefore often chosen as a wedding dress code. The Black Tie dress code is used for weddings held after 6 pm. This dress code is characterized by chic and stylish outfits. Women can wear a long evening dress or somewhat elegant cocktail dress. This dress code is recognizable by its festive looks. In general, this dress code is a bit looser. Women wear a dress, of which they can determine the lengths themselves. There is also plenty of choice with the shoes. For example, sandals with low or high heels, but also chic slippers. The Smart Casual dress code is characterized by elegance and fashion. You see this wedding dress code more and more these days, because it is a neat, but at the same time accessible dress code. You can go for a dress, suit or chic jumpsuit, but also with smart pants or skirt you comply with the smart casual dress code. You complete your outfit with beautiful pumps and accessories. Men are dressed in a festive chic dress code, in other words neat trousers with a nice shirt. With the shirt you can go for a festive look. A striking print is certainly possible! Men wear a dress suit with the dress code White Tie and a white pocket square in the breast pocket of the jacket. The outfit can be combined with a hat. Under the dress suit you always wear patent leather shoes, such as our Duco. And don’t forget: always wear black socks!

For men, a Cocktail wedding dress code means a suit with a white shirt and smart shoes. In short: neat, but not too exaggerated.  

With the Smart Casual dress code, men wear trousers combined with a blazer, for example. Think of neat cotton trousers or chinos. Wear a trendy blouse with neat shoes or loafers and your outfit is complete.

The Summer Chic dress code focuses on cheerful, summery colors. For example, go for pastel colors and wear a dress or trendy jumpsuit. Men wear light colors and airy fabrics. And sunglasses should not be missed!

The Festival Chic dress code wedding is characterized by: summery, cheerful and creativity. So there are plenty of colors and prints. Remember that it must remain chic, so don’t dress too revealing. At a Festival Chic dress code wedding you wear breezy sandals or wedges. A striking bag can certainly not be missed. A nice sandal for this is the Dilara. Are you a fan of wedges? Tenue de Ville is a daytime dress code and goes well with a chic garden party. Women wear a knee-length dress, but a jumpsuit is also possible. Usually pastel colors are worn. For example, choose a dark blue suit, with neat shoes.  

Now that you know what different wedding dress codes there are, you are almost prepared! However, there are also some general rules that apply to all wedding dress codes:

  The color white is really only intended for the bride. So avoid this color, because it is a no go!

  Do not wear thighs thicker than 20 dernier.

  Be careful with statement jewelry, this will quickly make you look over-dressed.

  Don’t dress too sexy. Obviously, attention should go to the bride…

  But don’t come in your jeans… wear a jumpsuit or trousers if you don’t like to wear dresses or skirts.

  Also, don’t wear too much black. This is more often worn on other occasions.

  Be careful not to be too “matching” and don’t wear too many of the same colors. If you wear a lilac dress, not all your jewelry and accessories need to be lilac.

  Last, but not least, don’t ignore the dress code. Otherwise you probably stand out too much, and that is probably not in a positive way…  

  Do not wear dark brown shoes under a black suit.

  Make sure your socks match your suit.

  Make sure that your tie integrates with your outfit.
